J. Ellis Guitarworks is a luthier service dedicated to providing top-quality service for stringed instruments in PEI. Every player has a deeply personal connection to their instruments and everyone has their own preference when it comes to ideal feel and tone. We aim to match these requirements to ensure every player is satisfied and at home with their instrument.
Joseph Ellis is a certified luthier born and raised in Charlottetown, PEI. As a teenager he first developed an interest in guitar driven music and quickly transitioned into learning to play guitar. Several years later an interest started to take root in setting up and modifying instruments to achieve better playability and sound. Over time this evolved into the professional service now offered here. Joseph studied at Timeless Instruments School of Lutherie under master luthier David Freeman. Graduating at the beginning of 2020 with an Advanced Diploma of Lutherie, as well as certifications for acoustic and electric guitar construction, and instrument repair.
